Why I love these handmade dolls and why you will too! Etsy shop of the month

Hey everyone!
I hope you are having an amazing day today, yeah?
I love beautifying the home with handmade art I have a passion for using and buying handmade pieces for my home. The artsy style of handmade dolls can add a real rustic feel to the home. It’s so nice to add homely handmade touches to your home it makes it so special, I really like the handmade artist because you support the maker and find something truly uniquely handcrafted and special. If you are looking for a handmade gift maybe this little cute Etsy shop might interest you MamasBunnies a handmade doll shop that sells unique handmade little dolls they have so much character and personality in each doll.

When I first discovered MamasBunnies I felt enchanted by the dolls they have a real whimsical feel about them that make the dolls so special. Decorating your home with handmade dolls can give your house character. I really love the intricate detail of each doll and you can really tell how much work went into creating each doll. The handmade craftsmanship is phenomenal because they really capture the emotions of innocence and playfulness with the colours used in each doll.

The dolls are handmade with love by a mother who retired from dressmaking and became a dollmaker, she attended doll making classes and found a love for making bunnies. Every doll is made with an artistic soul and you can see how amazingly well made they are each doll is made with love and care. She creates little artist handmade dolls that are not toys but they are ornaments and made for decoration. MamasBunnies is a mother and daughter duo handmade business the mother is the creative artist and the daughter is the business manager on Etsy.

Song Of The Seam Designer Feature Interview

-->
Hi everyone! i really love looking at handmade designers i have deep appreciation for their talented work! today i have here an interview with Melanie the owner of Song Of The Seam.

what inspires your designs?

A real mix of things, it’s very random. Fabric, embellishments, even the stitch types on my sewing machine will give me an idea for something and I’ll just run with it and see where it ends up.

how did you start designing did you go to school?

No, I literally just decided one day that I wanted to learn to sew, bought a sewing machine and started to make things! Once I had learnt the basics of sewing I began to experiment with putting my own designs together and things just progressed from there. Now I sell my products online and also do some freelance work writing tutorials for sewing and craft magazines.

do you have any advice for anyone thinking ongoing into the same field of work?

No matter what you make, there are a lot of aspects to selling well online and making an attractive product is only one part of being successful. You have to be willing to learn (and continue to improve) other skills, such as product photography, how to use SEO to get your items found and how to effectively use social media. The great thing about selling online though is that it’s easy to start small and work your way up from there. Most often don’t need a massive overhead to get started and the day to day running costs are quite small.

Where do you see your online shop in five years?

At the moment I sell on multiple online platforms which is all a bit higgledy piggledy. I’ve just launched my own website at songoftheseam.com so in five years I’d like my website to be the main hub of my online activity. I’m currently working on a new blog to give visitors a peek behind the scenes in the day to day life of my workroom which is really exciting!

tell me about you shop?

I started selling online in 2011 with just a handful of products and really no clue what I was doing beyond the very basics. Things have changed a lot since then as I’ve found my feet and really started to develop my own style and direction. Earlier this year I changed the name of my shop to Song of the Seam which, in a roundabout way, was inspired by the Thomas Hood poem ‘The Song of the Shirt’. I would describe my shop as a rather eclectic mix of colourful accessories and decor.

 What is your design process?

It’s a very informal process. I prefer to work things out as I go rather than designing something in full, on paper before I start. Usually it starts with an idea then I sit at the sewing machine with some fabric and start putting it together and making notes as I go. New designs are often born from old ones, in that I think about ways of adapting things to turn them into items with different uses.

etsy shop feature of the week Kreativprodukte

hey everyone! today is another etsy feature about a wonderful jewellery shop.
Kreativproduckte is owned by Barbara age 26, who lives in austria (next to vienna).

"my day job i´m a chemist, so there´s a lot of technical stuff around me all day and even though i love science i need getaways and this is where crafting comes in.
i have been doing this and that all my life, my mother crafted a lot with me when i was young, in a summer holiday i learned how to make friendship bracelets and at some point i developed a love for the seed beads. last but not least i took up painting.
my business:
even though i have always been a crafter i always just made a little something here and a little something there and everything i did not use myself turned into presents for others. about a year ago i got serious about crafting and i came to a point when i had so many things lying around and all my relatives and friends were gifted with my creations that i decided to open up an etsy shop and share my creations with the whole world
favourite thing to make??
i cannot say, one day i enjoy macrame, the next it´s kumihimo and on the third i love sitting in my room and paint. whatever i feel like and i feel like doing something pretty much every day as just cannot sit on the couch watching tv without doing something productive.
my products:
i think my products are unique because even though i look around the internet a lot (i just love pinterest and its tutorials) and am a big fan of tutorials i always try to change what´s shown around a bit so it gets a unique twist that noone else has and thereby make it my own creation."
