Etsy Shop Feature GratefulHeartMS

Hey Everyone!

Today I have some beautiful Wire Art & Gemstone Jewelry & Gifts to share with you. I have an interview with the designer & owner Abby and her shop is called GratefulHeartMS

GratefulHeartMS.etsy.com

What got you into design?
I've always had an artistic bent and I enjoy exploring different media like drawing, painting, and fibre arts. I like creating items that are both beautiful and have a function - like decorations and jewelry.

Where do you hope to see yourself in 5 years in regards to your Etsy?
I would like my shop to grow and develop and I learn more and refine my skills. I would love to collaborate with my Mom to add more products to the shop in the future. I would like Etsy to become a viable source of income so I can meet my personal goals.

Was it difficult to start your etsy shop or did you just find your way?
Etsy has been a learning process, like anything. I've gone through the process of trial and error. The journey has been valuable for me because I'm learning about persistence and communication. I love meeting other artists through Etsy and their social media. I'm a better person because of it.

Do you have any advice for those who want to sell on etsy and are only just starting out?
I think Etsy is about finding a niche. It's also about supporting others through sharing. It's not a journey you can go alone. Keep a positive attitude and be open.

Etsy shop feature Silvia Monetti fashion store

Hey, everyone! today I have an amazingly fun feature about a fashion Etsy shop.
https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SilviaMonetti

Introduce yourself, whats your name and how did you choose your shop name?
My name is Monica, I am a fashion designer living in London. Six years ago I met another designer, Silvia, and our styles and visions absolutely clicked. My friends often call me Monetti as a nickname, so when Silvia and I decided to start our own brand, Silvia Monetti just came naturally as a name!

What skills do you think are important for a successful career in fashion design?
You have to be really passionate about your work and feel strongly about it. So many times have I had people give me suggestions that try to make my style more like other brands, and I used to give in easily to try to please everyone. I learned that you have to go for what you like and trust your instincts if you want to create something different!

How did you get started on Etsy?
I was a little bit intimidated at first, to be honest, but I did some research and saw that there isn’t really another store that has the style and feel of Silvia Monetti. I have been on Etsy as a buyer since forever, but Silvia is the one who made me confident that we should go for it - so we went for it!

What are your qualifications as a fashion designer?
I started off as a child model for Benetton and I think it was the lights and cameras that dazzled me at first! When I grew up a little I realised I would prefer to be behind the scenes putting together the dresses and tops that I would always look for in stores but never find. I have studied fashion and graphic design and worked with a few small boutiques before I started my own.

what inspires your design process?
I am very driven by my instincts. You know when you go looking for, say, a dress for a wedding you are attending, and you know exactly what you want, but you can’t find it? That’s me alll the time, so it’s only natural in the end I sketch it out and make it! I love looking at Vogue and Bazaar too, the style of those photographs is just so perfect!

In what general area of design do you enjoy?
I LOVE making women’s coats and dresses. Coats have a peculiar challenge - you have to keep it warm and practical and somehow find a way to make it look elegant and beautiful at the same time. And I love dresses because you have so much freedom and so many choices to make when putting together a dress!

How do you stay up to date with fashion?
I don’t try to go too crazy with staying up to date - I check out some of my favourite magazines occasionally (already mentioned Vogue and Bazaar), but other than that I try to distance myself a bit or I might get lost in other people’s collections and muddle my own style.

Eco-friendly brand Fuschia Coture etsy shop feature

Liliana Chavez Cardona, Eco-friendly brand Fuschia Coture.

Favorite shop KombuchaCouture

Had the opportunity to collaborate with 138Water, actress Kristen Renton, and model Kayla Swift - we were published in a billboard on Hollywood Blvd, this past May.

The logo and name was created around the symbols of my zodiac sign. First, the color name was selected because the flower “Fuchsia triphylla” was discovered and named after the renowned German botanist “‘LEO’nhart Fuchs”, second, Fuchsia was purposely misspelled to “Fuschia” for its most common misspelling in English and Spanish. Third, the crown sitting on top of the letter “F” represents, Leo 7, Kozminsky Symbol: A book, on which a crown rests on a golden throne. "Denotes one who will by his own skill and ability receive and profit by impressions and reach a position which gains him the recognition due to him. To such, perseverance and faith are the essentials, and if he regards the meaning of these two words apart from the words themselves he will crown his labors with success. It is a symbol of Fame."

I promote Eco-friendly, my collections consist of working with bamboo fiber textiles, my goal is to continue to promote Eco-fashion. Researching various Eco-friendly textiles to introduce to my future collections. Currently my collections consist of color blocking and bikinis so I can maximize the usage of all yardage, I leave no room for waste.

Graduate from Academy of Art University in SF, with a master in Fashion Product Development.

etsy shop feature

 What’s your name?

my name is Tamar Landau Shalev

How do you start the creative process?

I work in two main methods:
A. Seasonal collections
B. Costum orders
A. When I'm working on my A. Seasonal collections. I usually starts with choosing the fabrics, and then working on the silhouettes.
B. As for working on Costum orders - That's up to the clients wishes. Sometimes we start with the choosing fabrics to existing styles. And sometimes, I starts with the silhouettes, and following with the fabrics.

Do you have any favorite museums you like to visit that inspire you?

As for inspiration, I prefer to go to flee markets, Secondhand stores, Old book stores & Small art galleries. I find them very inspiring. There's always the magic of old chic, you never know what you're going to find.

What has been one of your favorite experiences so far as an artist/designer?

-I have many good experiences, because I work very closely with my clients.
A specific good experience I had lately, was making a mini collection of 7 pregnancy dresses. to a very sweet client of mine. The fact she choose me, to be a part of such an important journey of her life, meant a lot to me.
If you had one piece of advice for an artist or designer looking to start selling their work what advice would you give?
Piece of advice to a young designer - Know your clients as good as possible. Be patient( to build good business takes time). Do everything you do with Passion.

etsy shop feature Imyourpresent

  •  Hi everyone! today i have a etsy shop interview with the owner of ImYourPresent
this is a very special shop because it is so unique and quirky, lets see what Kelly the owner has to say about her online shop.

    What’s your name?

My name is Kelly Sloan Eident.

What's the story behind your shop name?

I think "I'm Your Present" describes my brand’s aesthetic and attitude perfectly. Everything is shiny, pretty, girly and wrapped up with a bow. You can show up to a party empty-handed in a cute playsuit and when someone asks what you got them exclaim, “I’m Your Present!” while jumping out of a gigantic cake and spilling strawberry champagne everywhere.

      When did you start designing?

I've always loved to make things since I was little. I first starting selling things when I was 13 and living in Abu Dhabi (capital of the United Arab Emirates) with my family. My best friend Kitiya and I would craft until the wee hours of the night and then sell things at our school's Christmas Fair. After high school I went to art school (the Rhode Island School of Design) and majored in Apparel Design.

What inspired you to open a etsy shop?

After I graduated from College I wasn't sure what to do next and all the design jobs I found weren't very appealing. I pretty much spent all my free time making things anyway, and I really wanted to find someplace online to sell them. This was in 2006, so Etsy wasn't nearly as big or well known as it is now! I was so happy when I found Etsy and have been every since.

How do you get idea’s for photo-shoot?

I guess I'm mostly inspired by things I see and things that I love. I like to collect things and decorate my apartment so pretty much when I have a shoot I just take all my favorite things from around my apartment and set them up to look like the dreamiest spot! One of my favorite ones was me and my two friends Mallory and Lizzy, we set up my room and got a ton of candy, little cakes and champagne! I always love scouting cute locations too, like a diner or ice cream shop. I basically want my shoots to look like a group of friends, looking so adorable and having so much fun! And the shoots are always a blast to be part of. Another cute one I did setting up a all girl rock band and we borrowed instruments and a practice space.

Do you have a favorite shop on etsy besides your own of course?

My favorite would have to be my good friend Joe's shop, Pretty Snake! www.etsy.com/shop/PrettySnake
He lives in the same city as I do and we've done a bunch of collaborations in the past.

What has been one of your favorite experiences so far as an artist/designer?

The interaction with my customers and seeing all the customer pics they post has been incredible!! There are so many different types of girls, all different ages and across the world, each one with their own adorable style! That has been an incredibly fun and rewarding part of my experience.
If you had one piece of advice for an artist or designer looking to start selling their work what advice would you give?

I would say to always stay true to your style and your unique vision... If you are designing based on current trends, it could catch on for awhile but it won't stand the test of time, you need to have your own ideas! And work really hard on them.

etsy feature LucyLovesLeather

today i have a very interesting feature about a etsy shop i hope you all enjoy reading about it!

What's the story behind your shop name?

Even though my real name is Kimberly, a lot of my friends know me as Lucy! I used to play World of Warcraft pretty seriously, and my characters all had names that were based on Lucy - Lucynia, Lucyient, Lucyvious, the list goes on! I love bad puns and word play!

When I started making leather, I thought it would be fun to use my alter ego to create a name that used alliteration. So Lucy Loves Leather was born! It sounds much better to me than Kym Kreates Krafts.

When did you start designing?

I’ve been a hands on person my whole life. I love to make things, especially useful things! My mom taught me to sew when I was very young, and my dad showed me woodworking and home repair techniques. I can do drywall or make a quilt, and even weld sheet metal!

I didn’t start working with leather until 2012, when my sister showed me how to paint a mask. She had some blank masks she had formed, and let me decorate a few. I quickly fell in love with leather and it’s grown from there!

How do you start the design process?

My designs come from a variety of places. I usually will have an idea pop into my head and then I start sketching and brainstorming. I have several basic templates I’ve refined over the years, and use those for a starting point.

Sometimes I have a pile of ‘blanks’ - unpainted, formed masks- and will just start painting to see what happens. It usually turns out pretty neat, but I do have a pile of masks that didn't’ go right. On days where I’m taking a break, I go through the stack and see what I can salvage!

I love nature and animals, and traditional Japanese art. A lot of my designs combine those elements, and I tend to make very clean, bold, minimalist designs. I love steampunk, but I don’t do it well because I’m too precise!

What inspired you to open a etsy shop?

I first started selling on Etsy with my mom and sister in their shop. They had Squirrel Creek Creations LLC registered as a family business, since several people in my family are artistic. The shop was mostly selling wreaths, and a few masks at the time I joined.

It quickly became focused on masks, with other leather projects featured as well.

After a few years with Squirrel Creek, I wanted to branch out and have my own speciality shop that featured some of my new projects that didn’t fit with the masks and Armour. I’m now making leather jewelry and charms as part of my main product lines, and not just as an after thought.

I’m excited to see where it goes with the things I’ve learnt from over 500 sales in the Squirrel Creek Etsy store!

Do you have a favourite item you have created?

That answer changes over time! I have a special place in my heart for my fox masks. They were one of the first designs I developed all on my own. I will spend hours on youtube watching videos of foxes, and read everything I can on fox mythology and folk lore from around the world. I especially like the Japanese Kitsune mythology, and the Finnish myth about the northern lights being caused by foxes sweeping their tails through the snow.

Do you have a favorite shop on etsy besides your own of course?

I would have to say that my mom and sister’s shop is my other favorite! My sister is amazingly creative, and a very talented artist. We both get that from our mom, of course!

I also am good friends with Rebecca from Wirefly Jewelry - she does beautiful, wearable chain maille jewelry.

There are so many amazing shops on Etsy, I find something new every day!

What has been one of your favorite experiences so far as an artist/designer?

I think going to conventions and doing custom orders are tied for my favorite things to do. It’s great to see people wearing my work, and to have them put their trust in me to bring their concept to life!

But the biggest moment so far was getting an order from Paramount Pictures for 20 wolf masks! They were doing a promotional event for ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ and wanted masks for their models to wear. My sister and I made 20 masks in 3 days!

Where can the readers find you? What are your website links?

I have my own website at www.LucyLovesLeather.com and am active on social media under the same name. I use Deviant Art, Instagram, Tumblr, and Facebook.

You can find my Etsy shop at www.Etsy.com/Shop/LucyLovesLeather

You can find Squirrel Creek on Etsy at www.etsy.com/squirrelcrkcreations
And the Squirrel Creek Blog is at squirrelcreek.blogspot.com

Let me know if you want more pictures! I have tons.

etsy shop feature of the week Kreativprodukte

hey everyone! today is another etsy feature about a wonderful jewellery shop.
Kreativproduckte is owned by Barbara age 26, who lives in austria (next to vienna).

"my day job i´m a chemist, so there´s a lot of technical stuff around me all day and even though i love science i need getaways and this is where crafting comes in.
i have been doing this and that all my life, my mother crafted a lot with me when i was young, in a summer holiday i learned how to make friendship bracelets and at some point i developed a love for the seed beads. last but not least i took up painting.
my business:
even though i have always been a crafter i always just made a little something here and a little something there and everything i did not use myself turned into presents for others. about a year ago i got serious about crafting and i came to a point when i had so many things lying around and all my relatives and friends were gifted with my creations that i decided to open up an etsy shop and share my creations with the whole world
favourite thing to make??
i cannot say, one day i enjoy macrame, the next it´s kumihimo and on the third i love sitting in my room and paint. whatever i feel like and i feel like doing something pretty much every day as just cannot sit on the couch watching tv without doing something productive.
my products:
i think my products are unique because even though i look around the internet a lot (i just love pinterest and its tutorials) and am a big fan of tutorials i always try to change what´s shown around a bit so it gets a unique twist that noone else has and thereby make it my own creation."
