My House Of Holland Inspired Designs Let Them Eat Cake

Final Collection Design Concept:
I chose the brand House of Holland and I chose this brand because of the signature colorful print collections, I want to work with print design in the future and I think this the perfect brand to work with because of its playful and bold approach to design.  I have continued this theme in my concept and the collection will be keeping within the brands aesthetic and key garment types. Because I am designing for a brand that works with print I decided to choose a concept that would nourish my print design ideas. My concept I pop art combined with 90’s grunge fashion and my print inspiration comes from an inspirational photographer called Martin Parr his photography style is comical and strange.

this is my final graduate collection, I'm graduating in June 2015 with BA (hons) fashion my cake photography that i turned into a print design, if you look closely you can see the abstract cake prints in each garment.

my fashion illustrations

these are some of my illustrations for my portfolio i was using different media to create these in the first one i used watercolour and pen i thought this looked successful. Then for the next illustration i experimented with collaging with the real fabrics used for the garment. Then lastly i used manga makers for the last illustration. I like manga makers because they stay wet for longer and you can blend them, also they don't make it look to streaky like other brand marker.

so what do you think?

DIY fashion how to make a draped top

learn how i made this top
first fold in triangle and cut.
hen cut a slit in the Center.
then cut across to make a T shape.

fold it over and hem raw edges.

lastly stich on some ribbon at either side of your T and wear like a halter.

the final tailored jacket!

all the way from design concept to final design. so in summery the project was about teddy boys and the theme reveal and conceal.  so i looked at the classic teddy boy jacket and blocked out parts of the details with collage and drew design ideas from this. so for the final garment at the bottom of the jacket i blocked it off with a black, then on the front the pocket detail is cut off where it looks like a pocket but its not a pocket. This is because of the reveal conceal element of the jacket. i also kept some of the key teddy boy aspects on the jacket so you could tell its teddy boy inspired.

i worked with a model from model mayhem http://www.modelmayhem.com/2226086  highly recommend her  for shoots very reliable.

so do you like my new jacket?
